A progress report is presented of studies of the radio interference (RI) aspect of this subject to date. In particular, the determination of the maximum conductor gradient and the importance of hardware corona noise is discussed. Design features of the two /sup 1///sub 2/-mile lines capable of operation up to 600 kV at Coldwater are described from their RI aspects, and the background of the RI measurement problem for test lines is discussed.
