Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) attract the attention as an energy storage device due to their long lifetime, low-self discharge rate, and high specific energy. However, heat dissipation and operation temperature conditions are still under research investigation. An effective battery thermal management is required to dissipate the heat and control the temperature rise. Moreover, power consumption and low thermal conductivity in air-cooling systems and passive cooling system with phase change material (PCM) assisted need further design optimization. In this paper, a novel and environmental material called jute is integrated with both cooling strategies, air-cooling, and passive cooling PCM assisted. Jute fibers haven’t been investigated and integrated before with battery thermal management strategies. The results confirm that the proposed designs with jute fibers combination improved the cooling efficiency besides reduced the equipment and weight.
