Harmonic Suppression of Ship Electric Propulsion System Based on Active Power Filter

In ship power propulsion system, power electronic device produce a large number of harmonics into the ship power grid,which become the most harmonic resource. This paper presents the analysis of harmonics produced by twelve-pulse frequency convention system in ship power network. To reduce the harmonics pollution, the shunt Active Power Filter(APF) based on an instantaneous current and hysteresis current technique were designed. The APF mode is simulated with MATLAB, and the results verify that the method is validated for the power quality improvement in terms of harmonics and reactive power compensation in ship power grid.
