Influence of retinal detachment surgery on eye motility and binocularity.

Material, orientation and topography of episcleral buckling procedures are examined concerning the motility and the binocular functions of the eyes after retinal detachment surgery. The preoperative binocular state is of peculiar interest because also congenital palsies and heterophorias may be followed by a postoperative disturbance of the binocular vision. Some points that may contribute to a reduction of the amount and duration of these disturbances are discussed.
