Representation formalisms for software process modelling

The development of software process models is expected to yield significant benefits to the software engineering community. However, successful modeling requires the identifmation and utilization of a suitable representation formalism which supports the modeling objectives. This paper’ addresses these issues by identifying the objectives of software process modeling, deriving a list of requirements for a representation formalism, and examining some existing formalisms in terms of these objectives and requirements.
