Method and apparatus for communication on analog and digital hybrid beam-forming

Disclosed are a method and a device for communications through analog/digital hybrid beam-forming. The method according to the present invention comprises the following steps: a step of receiving a first message, which includes measurement/selection conditions for hybrid beam-forming, from a base station; a step of implementing channel measurement for multiple base station transmission beams based on the measurement/selection conditions; a step of selecting at least one base station transmission beam according to the measurement/selection conditions based on a result of the channel measurement; a step of transmitting report information about the selected base station transmission beam to the base station; a step of receiving a second message, which includes measurement/selection conditions for digital beam-forming with respect to a base station transmission beam finally selected by the base station, from the base station; a step of estimating an effective channel matrix for the selected base station transmission beam according to the measurement/selection conditions; a step of determining information for digital beam-forming at the base station based on the effective channel matrix, and feeding the determined information back to the base station; and a step of receiving data bursts which are transmitted from the base station in accordance with a MIMO mode and/or a configuration which are scheduled based on the fed back information. Therefore, the present invention can overcome a large propagation loss in a microwave band, and at the same time, maximize system efficiency, diversity performance, etc.
