Using networks to support the professional development of teachers

Abstract Besides knowledge about educational technology, teachers need examples and assistance in the incorporation process in order to implement information and communication technologies in schools. Thus, teachers have need for feedback and coaching activities when they try or use the innovation in their classrooms. The TINTIN research project (Teacher IN-service Training In Networks) is aimed at contributing to these apparent needs of teachers by setting up small-scale teacher networks. These teacher networks seem to be a fruitful environment for in-service training activities. In this paper the rationale, design and first experiences of TINTIN will be described and discussed
