Texture isolation by adaptive digital filtering

Abstract The separation of different types of texture information is performed in the Fourier domain through two-dimensional binary filters of radial asymmetry. The filters are designed after Fourier transformation of local samples and weighting of the spectral energy at each spatial frequency for the different types of texture information. Some results of using the filters to separate urban and forest areas in a photographic image are presented.
