Joint Codeword and Power Adaptation for CDMA Systems with Multipath and QoS Requirements

In this paper we present an algorithm for joint codeword and power adaptation applicable in the uplink of a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system in which multipath channels between users and the base station receiver are explicitly considered. The proposed algorithm uses incremental updates for codeword and power that allow a smooth transition of the system to a steady state configuration where specified targets for the signal-to-interference+noise-ratio (SINR) are achieved with minimum powers. The algorithm is illustrated with numerical results obtained from simulations.
