Object Composition and Playback Models for Handling Multimedia Data

Object-oriented models are proposed for handling multimedia data: an object composition model and a playback model. The introduction of “temporal glue”, an extension of TEX's glue, and a mechanism for constructing composite multimedia data hierarchically, makes it quite easy to edit and reuse composite multimedia data. This paper explains the models and experimental results obtained for a set of C++ class libraries based on them.
