Modelling and Simulation of Nonlinear Dynamics for an Overland Belt Conveyor

This paper describes the non-linear motion equation of belt conveyor based on belt sag,with a lumped element model.The mathematic model of a drive system with three motors and hydraulic couplings is built.The Newmark-β step-by-step integration method is used to solve the non-linear motion equation of a belt conveyor.The simulation on belt velocity,displacement of gravity take-up and belt tension in the process of starting and stopping is carried out.Comparison study of the above-mentioned simulation results and with W.R.B.Morrison model shows that both agrees well.Also the belt tension velocities got by a lumped element model and continuous body model are similar.
