VIBRATION ANALYSIS FOR A FOOTBRIDGE UNDER STOCHASTIC PEDESTRIAN LOAD AND A NEW METHOD FOR COMFORT EVALUATION

Based on the existing annoyance rate method from mental physics and traditional criteria for comfort evaluation,a new annoyance rate method for footbridges and a comprehensive evaluation method considering coupling between vertical and lateral vibration are proposed,they remedies the traditional criteria for comfort evaluation of footbridges.The time histories of the response of an existing footbridge are given under the simulated stochastic pedestrian loads and its comfort evaluation is also performed using the proposed method.The appropriate vibration reduction measures are given and their effects are predicted.
