The Microstrip Fed Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna (RMPA) with Defected Ground Plane for HIPERLAN/1

In this paper, we propose a design of rectangular microstrip patch antenna (RMPA). The glass epoxy substrate with height 1.6mm and the dielectric constant is 4.4 is used. The half circular slot etched on the patch at the top right as DMS, two circular slots etched on the ground plane as DGS. The DGS helps in shifting the resonant frequency to desired frequency. The bandwidth 230MHz with respect to center frequency 5.23GHz which High Performance Local Area Network type 1 (HIPERLAN/1) the frequency bands 5.150 GHz– 5.350 GHz. The percentage bandwidth of 4.39% and the average gain of 4.65dBi are achieved.
