Dynamic TXOP allocation for multimedia QoS providing over wireless networks

IEEE 802.11e has established a new access mechanism called the Hybrid Coordination Function (HCF) as a step toward provisioning Quality of Service (QoS) support in the wireless networks. However IEEE 802.11e scheduler shows poor performance for multimedia traffics. To solve this problem, we propose a Dynamic Transmission Opportunity (TXOP) allocation scheme in providing QoS for multimedia application, which assign the variable length of TXOP to different traffics based on the number of Service Data Units (SDUs) to be transmitted. Through the performance evaluations, we prove that our proposed scheme improves the packet delivery ratio, throughput, and the end-to-end delay.
