FPGA-implemented carrier based SPWM multilevel controller

Multilevel converters were originally developed for high voltage high current applications. These topologies have several advantages to offer that include voltage blocking requirements for the individual components in the switch matrix, lower EMI generation, lower THD, better output waveform as well as higher efficiency for a given quality of output waveform. However, all these benefits comes with the price of added controller and circuit complexity. The aim of This work is to show a total digital solution to the generation of control signals for a seven level diode clamped multilevel inverter.
