Influence of edge conditions on the sound insulation of windows

Abstract Some experiments on glass windows are described. It is found that the sound insulation of a glass window depends on the method by which it is mounted. Further experiments indicate that the variations in insulation found are due to the differences in edge damping provided by the different window frames.
