AIR SPLINTS USED AS IMMEDIATE POSTOPERATIVE PROSTHESES AFTER LONG POSTERIOR FLAP BELOW‐KNEE AMPUTATION

The results of a preliminary study of the use of an air splint as an immediate prosthesis for posterior flap below‐knee amputation are presented. The surgical technique is described. The air splint is easy to use, improves wound healing, reduces pain and allows early mobilization of the patient.
