A 3.8GHz Fully Integrated Digitally-Controlled LC Oscillator for PHS Transceiver

This paper presents a novel digitally-controlled LC oscillator (DCO) for PHS transceiver. This DCO is more suitable for system integration especially in a deep submicron CMOS process. The oscillator is designed in a 0.18 mum CMOS process with a central running frequency of 3.8 GHz and 630 MHz tuning range. The phase noise at 1.2 MHz offset frequency for 3.8 GHz is below -128 dBc/Hz while drawing 2.5 mA of current from a 1.8 V supply
