Efficient Raman shifting of picosecond Nd:YAG radiation by KGW crystal

Summary form only given. In the experiments, the KGd(WO/sub 4/)/sub 2/ (KGW) crystal 4/spl times/4/spl times/40 mm was pumped by the first or second harmonic of mode-locked Nd:YAG laser. The laser emitted the train of approximately five pulses with 30 ps duration each. The laser radiation was then passed through an adjustable telescope to decrease the spot size and then sent to the Raman crystal.
