Synthesis of Some New Transition Metal Complexes Derived from Biacetylmonoxime p-Nitrobenzoylhydrazone

Abstract The synthesis of biacetyl-2-oxime-3-p-nitrobenzoylhydrazone, BMNBH2, and its metal complexes have been described. The data of the elemental analyses, magnetic measurements, spectra (IR, Visible, NMR) have been analysed to characterize the complexes. The infrared spectral data show that the ligand acts in a bidentate and/or tridentate manner depending on the nature of the metal ion. The intramolecular hydrogen bonding in the ligand and its metal complexes is discussed on the basis of infrared and NMR spectra. The stereochemistry of the Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes has also been, reported.
