Estimation Methods for Fatigue Parameters of Aluminum Alloys in Aviation Industry

Based on the mechanical properties and fatigue tests of 12 kinds of aluminum alloys,the predictability of the existing 5 estimation methods for the fatigue parameters was analyzed.It is discovered that the four-point correlation method and modified four-point correlation method can be used to evaluate the fatigue lives of aluminum alloys in the low and/or intermediate cycle fatigue life regime.But none of the methods can be used to predict the fatigue life in the high cycle fatigue life regime.Besides,the hardness method provides the worst estimation results.
