Energy technologies and conversion systems

The 16 chapters of this book present a comprehensive view of energy technology, including fossil, renewable, and inexhaustible sources. A historical perspective of society's energy use is presented, and the present energy sources and others probably available for the future are surveyed. Each energy source is comprehensively reviewed, and energy conservation and appropriate use are are emphasized strongly. Social and economic impacts of energy development are also stressed. Eight appendices related to energy use or conversion are included. A separate abstract was prepared for each of the 16 chapters.
