Classes of systolic arrays for digital filtering

Classes of semisystolic and systolic arrays for finite impulse response (FIR) filtering and infinite impulse response (IIR) filtering are designed by a constructive approach. Two basic arrays are first introduced; they are used in the construction of semisystolic arrays for FIR and IIR filtering. We can synthesize classes of semi-systolic arrays by reversing the direction of one or more broadcasts and then obtain their systolic versions by applying transformations. Systolic arrays transformed from a single semisystolic array may differ in performance, number of delay units, and direction of data flow, and hence can be chosen under various considerations.
