Quantification in Correlatives

The chief characteristic which sets apart the correlative construction from more familiar kinds of relativization is the position of the relative clause. Typically, the relative clause in a correlative construction appears at the beginning or the end, as seen in the following examples from Hindi: (1) jo laRkii khaRii hai, vo lambii hai which girl standing is, she tall is (2) vo laRkii lambii hai, jo khaRii hai that girl tall is, who standing is “The girl who is standing is tall.”
