The simulation calculation for the recovery of seven real images (1D) from their Hartley-transform (HT) modulus only is presented with the use of a novel algorithm. All the recovered images at high-resolution levels have good quality compared to the corresponding original images. We prove that the procedure through the extension of the band width of the HT spectrum step by step can lead to improve the quality of the reconstructed images. We also employ an effective approach to seek a favorable initial image distribution used in the algorithm. The influence of noise contained in the Hartley-transform modulus on the convergent solution is also shown. The result shows that this novel algorithm for the recovery of images is in success.
