All-optical buffers for high-speed slotted TDM networks

In this presentation we will give an overview of the recent advances in fiber optic buffer design and describe how these buffers might be used in ultrafast TDM networks. In particular, we will describe buffers that rely on semiconductor optical laser amplifiers as the switching and timing elements. Recent experimental results will be described.
