Anthraceno-[2′.3′ : 2.3]-carbazol (IV) und das isomere Carbazol V werden ausgehend von Carbazol und 3-Methyl-naphthoesaure-(2) (I) uber das Keton II synthetisiert. Die Ultraviolettspektren von IV und des Naphthocarbazols VI weisen grose Ahnlichkeit mit den Spektren der entsprechenden Carbocyclen, 1.2-Benzpentacen resp. 1.2-Benztetracen, auf.
