A novel RF devices imperfection estimation in multiband MIMO receivers with baseband AGC

This paper proposes a novel radio frequency (RF) devices imperfection estimation scheme for the heterodyne multiband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) receiver with the baseband automatic gain control (AGC) for cognitive radios. It is quantitatively shown that the proposed estimation scheme allows analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with lower resolution to be applied to the receiver than the conventional estimation technique. Also, the proposed scheme is shown to attain rapid convergence, and to keep superior bit error rate (BER) performance in spite of the power of image-band interference. It is shown that the proposed estimation scheme makes the receiver with 8 bits ADCs attain the BER performance even in the presence of strong image-band interference, e.g., CIR=-40 dB.
