Exploding foil initiator (EFI) utilizes thin-film metallic bridge burst by pulsed electrical energy and formation of high velocity plastic film flyer for the explosive ignition. The present modeling includes the bridge evaporation and plasma expansion by joule heating and flyer acceleration, which is coupled with plasma property calculation and RLC circuit equation. The numerical results show that the modeling simulates dynamic responses of EFI operation such as bridge resistance or burst current quite well, as the present analysis is in good agreement with the existing experimental test data.
