An Improved Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for Multistage and Coordinated Planning of Transmission Systems

This paper presents a new model of multistage and coordinated planning of transmission systems. Reliability constraints are considered in this model. Particle swarm algorithm is improved and applied to the multistage planning, which is available to handle multi-dimension discrete variables. And double mutation operators are described to enhance the search efficiency of particles and escape the local optima. The test results show the feasibility of the improved PSO in multistage and coordinated planning of transmission systems
