Data management related to the application of two crop-water-environment- models in Argentina and Egypt

In a study of the transportability and intercomparison of models, the on-farm soil water balance models SWAP and BIWASA were applied with data collected in Lavalle (Argentina) and Zenkalon (Egypt). It is concluded that the one-dimensional SWAP model does not predict the water and salt balances worse than the two-dimensional model. The era of model development should bend towards quality and quantity of input and output data, rather than towards further extending the arena of models.
