A Seamless Handover Scheme for WAVE Systems

WAVE (Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments) systems are generally accepted as the technology to provide integration for V2V and V2I services in ITS fields. The authors introduce a handover scheme based on the signal strength and priority using location information for WAVE systems. This paper presents how to allocate the channels for seamless handover in vehicular environments. The channels allocations for continuous services avoids the frequent changes for the connection of RSUs (Road Side Units) in highly signal-fluctuated environment and minimizes the delay time for connection. In this paper, the authors investigate handover possibility of WAVE systems, implementing a simple scheme and clarifying that this scheme operates properly in WAVE systems. This scheme was demonstrated in Busan-Onyang Highway during the Busan Congress.
