Augmented Reality and nutrition field: A literature review study

Abstract With the popularization of technology in displays, several built-in sensors, and smartphones software open possibilities in perceiving AR as a daily tool. This article summarizes how AR technology has been integrated into nutritional theme. The goal is to merge the existing information as a starting point for a new research project. To achieve that stage, a systematic review of the literature was conducted from 2012 until 2017 in the total of thirteen articles found. We reflected on these studies through information gathering and categorizing. Nine of them indicated a greater tendency, a technical approach. However, a concern with experiential issues was found, and six of these studies have shown to be superficial. Another interesting point searched was, prototypes or system development that recognize food products and its volume, is becoming an auxiliary tool for diet and nutritional education.
