Resistance of Aedes albopictus to commonly used insecticides in urban area of Guangzhou

Objective To survey the resistance level of Aedes albopictus to commonly used insecticides in Guangzhou which offering scientific evidence for the vector control of dengue fever. Methods Using 6 common chemical insecticides, the resistance of Ae. albopictus larvae in urban area of Guangzhou( Yuexiu,Tianhe and Haizhu) was measured by larval impregnation. Results Ae. albopitus from Yuexiu and Tianhe was lowly resistant to DDVP( the resistance index 2),but sensitive to other insecticides. The Haizhu population held low resistance to fenthion, permethrin, deltamethrin( the resistance index: 2. 02- 2. 44). Ae. albopitus in urban area of Guangzhou was sensitive to betacypermethrin and propoxur. Conclusion Insecticides should be used scientifically and rationally to prevent and control vector of dengue fever.
