Magnetometers for wrecksite location : A case study at Bunbury, Western Australia

The application of the proton precession magnetometer in locating wreck sites, both in the ocean, end on the beach front, has been clearly demonstrated by a number of workers (Hall, 1966; Barto Arnold, 1981; Green et . a1., 1967; and Green, 1970). In recent years, the use of the seaborne towed fist magnetometer has become widespread in wrecksite location and survey; while the use of airborne magnetometers in the location of the HMS Pandora off the Queensland coast, has been noted (Henderson, 1960).
