Industry reconstruction and coordinated development of Yangtze River economic zone

The basin area of Yangtze River Economic Zone is 1,981,083 square kilometers, 20% of China, and GDP accounted for nearly 45% in 2014. It has gathered a large number of key enterprises of equipment manufacturing, electronic information, petrochemical, chemical, iron and steel metallurgy, textile and clothing sector and strategic emerging industries. With rapid development, we have encountered a lot of problems, such as unbalanced regional development, unreasonable industrial layout, and ecological damage. This paper uses the grey correlation analysis to do an empirical analysis on cooperative relation between industrial development (measured by value-added of industry) and regional economic development (measured by GDP, total investment, urban population, students in regular higher education, length of highway, length of railway, length of navigable inland waterways). Meanwhile, we also do an empirical analysis on cooperative relation of eleven provinces within industrial development. The results showed that GDP, urban population, navigable inland waterway plays more active roles for industrial development, and the linkage of cities of the Yangtze River is weakness. Development for the future, it should fully take advantages of Yangtze River, accelerate the construction of modern industrial system, adjust and optimize the industrial layout, and promote regional industrial cooperation. Through many policy measures, Yangtze River economic zone can lay the foundation of China's economic development, and make communication at home and abroad.
