An efficient synthesis of 5,6‐dihydrobenzo[h]quinazoline derivatives under solvent‐free conditions

An efficient and convenient method for the preparation of 5,6-dihydrobenzo[h]quinazoline derivatives by the multicomponent reactions of aromatic aldehydes, 3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-one and urea or acetamidine hydrochloride, in the presence of sodium hydroxide under solvent-free conditions was reported. This method has the advantages of excellent yields, mild reaction conditions, easy work-up, and environmentally friendly procedure. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2010).
