Effects of Picture-Text Sequence, Prerequisite Knowledge, and Review Questions upon Training for EDP System Users

How information is presented to and processed by a reader determines how the reader will assimilate, retain, and recall (i.e., learn) that information. Meaningful learning requires reader integration of new and existing information. Rote learning occurs if information is memorized in an arbitrary, verbation fashion. Review questions which prompt integration of old and new information should promote meaningful learning, whereas, recall review questions should promote rote learning.
