Direct measurement of the aerodynamic admittance of two-dimensional rectangular cylinders in smooth and turbulent flows

Abstract The aerodynamic admittance function has been directly measured for a range of two-dimensional rectangular cylinders in smooth flow and grid generated turbulent flows. Results obtained for three rectangular sections of different chord-to-thickness ratio in various levels of background turbulence are in good agreement with those obtained previously using a discrete-frequency gust generation technique. This agreement suggests a universal behaviour of the aerodynamic admittance function.
