Reliable and energy-efficient multicast based on network coding for wireless sensor networks

An energy-efficient retransmission scheme is presented based on network coding technique for wireless sensor networks. This new scheme enables an intermediate node to first recover the loss packets requested by the nodes having better channel condition. In this way, these nodes do not need to keep their radio on during the whole retransmission process and thus get to resulting in consuming less energy. Simulation results show that the proposed approach can reduce energy consumption, comparing with the existing network coding based rescue schemes.
