A fast image mosaicing method for an aerial reconnaissance camera

This paper present a fast image mosaicing method for an aerial reconnaissance CCD camera. In this method, geometric transformation is first done to supply a roughly registration area of images, and then image cross-correlation (CC) is proposed to precise the transformation parameters. Compared with the single CC method, measure of similarity for window pairs between reference and sensed images does not need to search the whole reference image, and the maximum value of similarity for the window pairs can be got from a selected area which is far less than original reference image. Thus, time of image processing comparing with traditional CC will be largely reduced. This is very important for the camera image processing system. Finally, an image generated of this method is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.
