Epidemiologic Data Related to Health Effects of 1,3-Butadiene

To understand the potential health effects of a chemical on humans, epidemiologists, industrial engineers, toxicologists, physiologists, as well as other laboratory scientists must interrelate the information gathered from their areas of expertise in order to interpret the overall risks related to chemicals. Before presenting the data from epidemiology studies of 1,3-butadiene, a brief summary of the types of studies which have been done and the weight of evidence which can be determined from each type will be discussed.
