Evaluation of low-cost high-performance synchronous motors for ventilation application

This paper evaluates the performance of synchronous reluctance machine (SynRM) and permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machine (PMASynRM) for low-cost ventilation application. A unified mathematical model is established with interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) for comparison. Besides, permeability frozen method is utilized to distinguish basic electromagnetic torque and reluctance torque. Both efficiency and power factor at whole speed region are assessed to demonstrate the optimal working region of the three analyzed machines.
