A New Start Method for Sensorless Brushless DC Motor Based on Pulse Injection

This paper presents a new control method for sensorless brushless DC motor. By detecting the voltage on the sample resistance in the DC link, the rotor's position can be determined when the motor stand still. Then through a specified speed-up method, the rotor will accelerate to a certain speed that the conventional back-EMF method can work properly. An experiment based on the brushless DC motor in air-conditioner using in fuel cell vehicle is carried out to validate it.
