Presents the cold numerical simulation of airflow characteristics in furnace of six corner tangentially fired boiler with k e two equation turbulence models, points out the differences between the origin designed case and every retrofitted case analyses the cause for prototype boiler heat exchange surface slag, concludes from numerical simulation results that the aerodynamic field in furnace of tangentially fired boiler with burners arranged in six corners is different from that of the boiler with burners arranged in four corners, the side wall burner has great influence on the flow field in the furnace, increasing the imaginary tangential circle of secondary air at top burners benefits the combustion in furnace, agrees with the experimental results as well. Increasing the imaginary tangential circle diameter of secondary air properly become effective retrofit blueprint in engineering.
