Asphalt study tour to the USA: January-February 1990: summary, recommendations and issues

The Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) organised a Study Tour to the USA in January-February 1990, the main purposes of which were to attend the First International Conference of the International Society of Asphalt Pavements (ISAP), and to study developments in several of the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) contracts, especially those related to asphalt and bitumen. This was supplemented by discussions with those working on the SHRP Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) contract, and workers at two State Highway Agencies and at the Waterways Experiment Station of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
