The Whys and Wherefore of Atmospheric Contamination

HEARTIEST congratulations are due the Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry of the AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY for sponsoring the Symposium on "Atmospheric Contamination and Purification," to be presented during the spring meeting in San Francisco on March 28 and 29. This symposium is essentially a companion to the one on industrial wastes, originally suggested by the editors of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry and cosponsored by t h e Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry and the Division of Water, Sewage, and Sanitation Chemistry and presented before the Atlantic City meeting of the Society in April 1947. Readers of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry may recall that the entire May 1947 issue was devoted to the publication of more than 20 papers on various phases of industrial wastes presented at t h e symposium.
