Canadian Libraries and the Emerging Information Network.

Information networks offer exciting opportunities for library services, but library applications will not emerge spontaneously as a by-product of upgraded networks. To ensure that the needs of the Canadian library community are addressed, libraries must participate in the development of library specific applications. This article describes the networks available and the initiatives being taken to develop a high speed network. Potential library applications of research networks, and the international standards that can be used to create them are also described
