The method comprises the steps of detecting candidate areas of a hand in the current scene; determining a forearm area in the current scene based on the depth image of the current scene; respectively predicating corresponding wrist information in the candidate areas of each handle; predicating the wrist information according to the forearm area; selecting the candidate area with the top confidence coefficient as the area of the handle according to the wrist information. According to the hand detecting method and device, good detecting result can be obtained under various complex conditions such as that the image is fuzzy caused by the moving of the hand, an object with color similar to the skin color is in the background, the light changes in the man-machine interaction process, and the hand and face are overlapped.
