Public Relation: t Grass Roots

We were a guest of the technical personnel of the Stamford Laboratories of American Cyanamid Co. on May 19, 1950. There was nothing significant about such a visit-many such visits have been made in the past. What was significant was the steady stream of Stamfordites who availed themselves of the opportunity to visualize the increasingly important role that scientific research is today playing in the development of modern industry and agriculture. We suspect that thousands of people residing in Stamford and surrounding towns and villages, driving past the huge structures on the Boston Post Road that house Cyanamid's consolidated research laboratories, have wondered frequently what went on inside those structures. Such curiosity is understandable in a day and age of screaming newspaper headlines about atom bombs, poison gases, and bacteriological warfare.
